It is said to strengthen the spirit and bring success in matters that require truth and clear judgment. In folk magic, calendula has long been used in legal workings, added to charm bags, washes, or carried on the person to encourage favorable outcomes, expose deception, and help matters resolve in one’s favor.

Calendula is also connected to dream divination and protection while you sleep. This makes it a great addition to dream bags/pillows.

Its protective qualities come from its association with the sun, and some practitioners string it across the doorway to stop negative energy from entering the house.

Calendula is also used in prosperity magic, where its golden color symbolizes abundance, steady blessings, and attraction of good fortune.

Though different from Tagetes marigolds, calendula still holds a place in Mexican folk practice for ancestor offerings when Tagetes is not available.
